INTRODUCTION
INSTITUTIONAL PROGRAMS
This Directory is organized by the varying types of institutions operating in Maine and the programs that they offer. The categories represent programs with similar professional, educational or vocational objectives. They are not intended to represent similar program length, level of difficulty or importance. New institutions and programs are continually added to our lists. Modifications and deletions also are made throughout the year.
A prospective student is encouraged to write or visit the school for specific information relative to admission requirements, program/course content, enrollment limitations, tuition and other facts before submitting an application to the Department of Veterans Affairs for benefits.
Additionally, counselors are reminded to advise students who attend two-year institutions and desire to later transfer to a four-year institution that there is the need to research in advance the potential for transferring the credits that they earn at the two-year institution. This is critical since transferability of credits is contingent upon the type of accreditation held by the two-year institution as well as the compatibility of the courses offered by the two institutions.
